Our Story
Our Story
Monkey & Bear was born from our family's journey through the world of autoinflammatory disease.
When our son, Sammy, was just three years old, our lives changed forever. After a long search for answers, he was diagnosed with a rare autoinflammatory disease. Since then, our family has learned what it means to live with chronic pain, unpredictable flares, daily injections, countless medical appointments, and the uncertainty that comes with a disease few people have ever heard of.
Along the way, we've also discovered incredible strength, hope, and a community that understands what this journey is like. We've seen firsthand how important specialized clinics, research, advocacy, and family support are—not only for Sammy, but for every child and adult living with an autoinflammatory condition.
Monkey & Bear is our way of giving back. What started as a dream to raise awareness for Sammy has grown into a mission to support the entire autoinflammatory community. Through fundraising events, community partnerships, and our online shop, we help raise funds for autoinflammatory clinics, research, patient advocacy, awareness initiatives, and organizations like the Autoinflammatory Alliance.
